GreatHorse ready to host Massachusetts Open June 11-13

Ten years have passed since a Western Massachusetts golf course has hosted the Massachusetts Open, and many of the region's top professional and amateur golfers are in for a special week.

GreatHorse in Hampden will host the highest profile championship of its four-year existence, continuing its upward trend since its post-auction reformation of the old Hampden Country Club.

"It's on a similar footprint, but nothing's the same anymore,'' said host pro Billy Downes, who grew up playing Hampden CC since its opening 45 years ago.

Guy Antonacci and family took care of those upgrades, to the tune of $55 million worth of investment as owners.
